A SIMPLE WORD CHECK
Three quick steps before your next move.
Enter one word with 2 to 11 English letters. Uppercase and lowercase work the same way.
Press Check Word. The tool loads this site's word list the first time you use it.
See whether the word is in the list. A loading error is shown separately so you can try again.
The checker uses the same acceptance list as the Outspell board on this site. A valid result means the word is in that list. Your move still needs a legal placement and legal crossing words.
It does not check your rack, whether the word fits the board, or whether another game or tournament would accept it.
A word can be missing from this game's list even if you have seen it elsewhere. Spaces, punctuation, digits, accented letters, and entries outside the 2 to 11 letter range are also rejected.
If the local word file cannot load, the result will say so. Try again after reconnecting or reloading.
The game and checker load the same Wordnik-derived file. The computer chooses from a smaller curated set, then checks its moves against the full list.
The list contains familiar and uncommon entries. It provides no definitions or word-frequency advice. Just Words uses the same acceptance list with different board rules.
