What is Just Words?
Just Words is a turn-based word board game on a 15 × 15 grid. Play against the computer or choose a local two-player match in Settings. Each side draws seven tiles and builds connected words for points.
How to play
- Choose a rack tile, then an empty board square. Your first word must cover the center.
- Place tiles in one row or column, with no gaps inside the completed word.
- Later moves must connect to letters already on the board. Every crossing word must be valid.
- Submit a word, pass, or swap your rack. A local match passes control to the other player after each turn.
Scoring
Letter and word bonus squares apply only when a new tile lands on them. A crossing move scores its main word and all new cross words. Playing all seven rack tiles in one move adds 50 points. This version uses 98 letter tiles without blanks. The game ends when the bag is empty and a player empties their rack, or after six consecutive turns without a word. Remaining rack points are deducted.
Strategy
Look for parallel placements that make two words at once. A high-value letter on a triple-letter square can add points to both words when it forms a crossing. Watch the bag count near the end: a large remaining rack can reduce your final score. If a rack is unusable, Swap rack exchanges all of its tiles and uses a turn.
Frequently asked questions
Can I play with a friend?
Yes. Choose Local two player in Settings. Both players use the same device and alternate turns.
Are blank tiles included?
No. This version has 98 printed letter tiles. All accepted words use the included word list.
Can I change the opponent mid-game?
Yes, but choosing another opponent starts a fresh match. A local game and a computer game cannot share the same turn state.
